Sharda World School, Keetham celebrated the auspicious festival of Shri Krishna Janmashtami on 3rd September 2026 with great enthusiasm, devotion, and festive spirit. The school campus came alive with attractive decorations and a series of cultural and traditional activities that gave students an opportunity to experience the richness of Indian traditions.

Beginning the Celebration with Devotion

The programme was conducted by Saanchi, who guided the audience through the different segments of the celebration.

The festivities commenced with Head of School, Mr. Satyaki Banerjee, and Vice Principal, Ms. Neeta Rani, offering a garland to the idol of Lord Krishna. The ceremonial beginning set a devotional tone for the programme and reflected the spiritual significance of the occasion.

Matki Phod: Celebrating Teamwork and the Spirit of Janmashtami

The major highlight of the celebration was the exciting Matki Phod activity, one of the traditions closely associated with Janmashtami festivities.

Students, teachers, and support staff came together to form a human pyramid with the goal of reaching and breaking the matki suspended above them. The participants demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm, courage, cooperation, and team spirit as they worked collectively to complete the challenge.

The successful Matki Phod was greeted with enthusiastic applause and cheers, filling the school campus with excitement and festive energy.

Adding Cultural Colours with Dandiya

Another highlight of the Janmashtami celebration was a vibrant Dandiya dance performance by the girl students.

Dressed in traditional attire, the students captivated the audience with their graceful and energetic presentation. Their performance added colour and cultural vibrancy to the occasion while providing students with an opportunity to celebrate Indian traditions through music and dance.

The Dandiya presentation further enriched the festive atmosphere and became one of the memorable moments of the celebration.

Sharing the Joy of Prasad

As part of the festivities, Panjiri was distributed among the students as prasad, traditionally associated with Lord Krishna.
